Preparing for Hoopfest 2009

June 25, 2009 – 10:10 am

When I say I’m preparing for Hoopfest, I’m not talking about hi-tops, sweatbands, and mesh shorts–I really have no interest in basketball itself but I really enjoy the atmosphere down at Hoopfest each year as I walk around, meet friends, and take photos of the city bursting with activity.

I’m again¬†looking forward to capturing the event this year. It’s currently forecast to be in the 80s over the weekend which can feel hotter downtown among all the concrete sidewalks and pavement.

The photo pictured here is in the current (June, 2009) issue of Spokane Metro Magazine. I took it last year from about five stories up of a game being played along Wall Street.

The photo was taken with a tilt shift lens which I talked about earlier on my blog. Also last year I posted other photos from Hoopfest 2008 too.

If you’re playing in Hoopfest, “good luck!” Maybe I’ll see you down there. Oh, and maybe I’ll catch a glimpse of Kareem!

Below is another of my favorite shots from last year.

  3. Sorry, Michael, I didn’t come across that hoop. I think there were about 400 hoops down there!
