My Tiltshift Lens Experience – Photos

August 12, 2008 – 7:01 am

Below are photos I took using a fancy tiltshift lens. Feel free to skip down to the photos or read on for more info.

I recently rented a special tiltshift lens to see how it worked. It’s commonly used for architectural photography because it allows you to correct for distortion that occurs when you have to point your camera up to photograph buildings. It works in other ways too and instead of correcting perspective you can also exaggerate to produce unique effects.

One of the main things I did with it was get it to produce only a small area of clear focus and allow the rest of the image to quickly fade into a blur. I guess I just like how that looks sometimes although at times it can seem gimmicky.

I used the lens in downtown Spokane, took it on a trip to Seattle, and used it during Spokane’s 3-on-3 basketball tournament, Hoopfest. I earlier posted the Hoopfest photos here.

Below are my photos from Spokane and my Seattle Trip.
